I used the phone notice of an up coming purchase for $1K for my new Chase B/A card last night. Load immediately went thru without a FA. I'm not sure if you can do this with all banks, but it definitely works with Chase.
My DH & I each got the Chase Marriott on the same day and I called Chase to avoid FA before load the RB. No prob in the store with either card, but when we returned home. Chase called my DH and questioned his purchases. Repeat the next day... Chase called my DH again. Never questioned my purchases. Go figure!!
