It seems like people here have got you pointed in the right direction already but I'll throw one more vote onto the pile for going with the beaches. When I needed to "sell" my wife on moving to LA several years ago I spent a whole day with her along the beach. Money was tight so we didn't need to stay in a hotel at the beach; we stayed by LAX where we P/Led a 4-star hotel for cheap and drove to the beach. She liked it, I took the job, and we moved. If I'd planned the weekend as the typical Hollywood-Beverly Hills scene you see in all the movies, she almost certainly would have refused. But it helps to know one's wife.
