LAX-JFK PS flights on Saturday Feb 21, and Sunday Feb 22 are really $$$$$. I've been going to NYC in Feb for the last 7 years in Feb for meetings and usually this is off season and ticket can be had for under $200 o/w.
I booked in late January, and the best I could find was the Sunday night LAX-JFK red eye for $326, while the return flight was a "normal" $160.
Usually the weekend red-eye is an easy UG to clear, but at the rate J is filling up, I'm not so sure. Y seats on Saturday & Sunday (Feb 21/22) are now quoted mostly $700 and up. By contrast, tickets for this weekend (Feb 14/15) are only $450.
There must be some event going on in NYC driving up the demand, but I can't figure it out. Surely someone on FT must know what is causing this unusual demand and pricing.
Thanks,
Phil
It is a holiday week. With Presidents' Day on Monday there are lots of schools in the East that have the week off.
