How about Japan? In Japan most hotel staff won't take tips (some of my local friend telling me that they don't need tips to maintain high standard), and I wonder how I should show my appreciation to them. I'll have my upcoming stay with girl friend in St.Regis Osaka, and was emailing butler back and forth for a month to plan how to give some surprise on the birthday night, and was getting pretty good recommendations.
