Wrong REDcard. There are 3 different types, all with the same name, and looking identical, expect our RB says "prepaid" on it.
The card they were trying to give you is a debit card, tied directly to your checking account, so that's why they wanted the check. You don't want that card.
You have to ask for the "prepaid" card very specifically, since if the store doesn't have them yet, they can easily misunderstand what card you are asking for. As you found out....
