I would add that personal attacks are prohibited by FlyerTalk Rules. Also, posts that are too far off-topic, excessively argumentative and otherwise disruptive to a thread may constitute rules violations.

All of those types of posts should be reported to moderators for appropriate action.

I'd reserve the ignore button for those few members whom you might personally find annoying, but who aren't technically violating any rules or disrupting the overall flow of the discussion.
