Once on the jet way, forgetaboutit. No swimming, or else you might get bit. Same for the bags overhead.
If they've already called a group after yours, whether you're GS, G1, G2, etc., you can slide your way up to the front to have your BP scanned ahead of the line. Agree, once in the jetway join the end of the queue.
