DYKWIA stories (Travelling on United Airlines) (Archive)
I board my ER 145? (sorry if I named the equipment wrong), I am in 1A, the FA tells me, 2A and 3A that the they are having some Air conditioning problems in the front of this plane and since it is less than half full we can feel free to move to any open row and get two seats to stretch out. 2A immediately jumps up and tries to take both 3 b and c (E+ seats), almost knocking me over. I gave FA my best over entitled look, she glances quickly at the manifest and says to him, "do you know who this is? (no really, she used those words) He is a platinum, you will have to take a different row sir, he is entitled to both of those seats because of his loyal service to the airline. I will however give you a free beverage if you like for the inconvenience."
I laughed only because of this board, then took my seat with the proper glow of an over entitled elite flyer. I will most certainly be giving a great report if .bomb picks this flight for my survey.

The other funny part is that even though they market 3B/C as E+ (or "ELR") seats, I find them to actually be more cramped and restrictive. There's a reason almost everybody on this board recommends row 12 instead. And even if row 12 is occupied, I still prefer rows 4 through 10 over row 3.

My seat didn't recline and we had a tough time finding overhead storage space for our bags, so I think on balance the pax we traded with came out ahead.

Oh so your the guy who stole my favorite seats. It was comical the people that kept moving back to stay warm, I put on my overcoat and drank instead.

This is better than Hotshots - you were all on that flight!
"but the hunter who mistakenly killed your father..."
"was Henry Pfaffenbach, my father. I feel terrible."
"Isn't this Henry Alva Pfaffenbach?"
"My mother was a Pfaffenbach."
"Not... Doreen Pfaffenbach?"
"From Minnesota?"
"Yeah."

This thread is proof positive that flying 145s is not good for one's mental health.
