how will i start flight activity if the air india website is not accepting the loyalty number, saying its not valid.

Dont worry ... wait for a week or two. You will get a email from Air India with the username/password for the new Flying Returns account.
If you dont want to wait - create a new account yourself and call up SBI helpline to change the FFP number on record in the card.
