Check your room rate/deposits

I have an upcoming stay here at the end of February. The reviews on here and TripAdvisor don't look promising, but I got a great rate ($99.00/night) on Hilton.com and want to try a Curio, so I thought I would give it a chance. The reservation required a 1 night refundable deposit which was charged as expected. A couple of weeks later, I noticed an additional amount was charged to my card that I wasn't anticipating. It took 37 minutes and a very friendly, helpful Diamond Desk agent to get this straightened out. Long story short, I had added my partner's name to the reservation. The SLS Rep agent said there is a glitch in their system that resets the rate anytime a customer makes a details change, such as adding a second guest even it is a reservation that is changeable/refundable. The rate will show a new, higher number on SLS's system and it will remain at the rate that it was booked on Hilton.com and to Hilton agents. Since they increased the rate, they charged an additional deposit to my card. A supervisor refunded the overcharged deposit and correct the rate on their end to match what I booked. Make sure to save confirmation e-mail and watch for overcharging or additional charging of deposits...
