This is a potentially positive development that could keep me loyal to Hilton. With the incredible devaluation of points over the last several years I have been having a difficult time justifying the 50-70 nights per year I send Hilton's way. Hopefully this doesn't turn out the like the Premium Room rewards debacle.
I personally would like to see the lifetime status based primarily on years as a Diamond.
