Well, there's
http://nomadiccosmopolitan.com, which is the story of an Icelandic-Canadian woman with a degree in "travel" from Berkley and a full-time quest to visit at least a zillion third-world countries before turning 30. It's not my cup of tea, really, but it's fascinating nonetheless and there's nary a word about credit cards or first class travel. Traveling from one Pacific Island country to another by hitching a ride on some local's outboard skiff full of produce being taken to market, for example, is pretty off-the-charts.
On a more first world note, there are also a lot of expat blogs by Anglophones who've moved, for example, to Paris and post about their experiences, but that's probably not what you're looking for. Living isn't the same as travelling. Or is it?
