I think that SR acted to rapidly by breaking away from DL after their deal with AF. The SR/DL partnership worked very well, but they did need some more and bigger partners. AF is very attractive because of its size, routes and CDG hub. If SR joins SkyTeam then I think that SN is dead.
I have been using SR a lot on SFO-ZRH when they partnered with DL, but now I go via ATL, JFK or with AF (if I can get a seat). But it is not only SR that suffer - DL has a hard time filling the flights to ZRH and BRU.
If SR comes back to DL, it will make them attractive for new partners in Asia.
The reason SR went to AA was probably because of Katz (he left too).
