heads-up on MBNA access-check fee

Today Dec. 11 is the last day that the transaction fee for using an MBNA convenience check is 3% to a maximum $50; as of tomorrow 12th the maximum is $75.

The transaction date is what counts, so presumably the only way to avoid the extra 25 is to go to your brick-and-mortar bank today and make a deposit with today's date.

For MBNA holders generally, this bears watching. Looks like either a policy to be the leader in nickel-and-diming customers, or they want to see if competitors follow, and will go back to $50 if they don't.
