On release it cost 67800 JPY and now apparently they've increased the price to 75800 JPY. Is there any particular reason to why they increase the price, and would it by any chance drop until december? I know the boxing day sale is after christmas, so is it perhaps more clever to buy it then, assuming there might be a discount? Also is it still possible to shop VAT free as a foreign national?
I was there last week and tried to buy one. The SIM free price from the Apple store (the only place you can buy SIM free) was 87800JPY, plus tax for a 64Gb iPhone 6. Take your passport and you won't pay the tax. However, I tried all three Apple stores in Tokyo and you had to make a reservation for the following day at the earliest so, if you want to get one make it the first thing you do on the trip or check stock before you travel.
