Beware! Warning! Warning! LHR-HAM on 4U means you do not get lounge access at LHR with your Star Alliance Gold card.

The Star Alliance Gold access benefit requires an onward boarding pass on a *A carrier. Germanwings is not a *A carrier. If others have been getting lounge access to the (quite nice) LHR T2 United Club with xxx-LHR-HAM they've been getting lucky; the United Club is not an arrivals lounge.
