The local train ("cityline") runs every 12-15 minutes. The BTS runs every 3-4 minutes most of the day. Shouldn't take 10 minutes from station to Hyatt. About an hour is reasonable. Taxi can be as fast as 35 minutes if little traffic or 2-3 hours if you are unlucky.
I'm arriving in on QF23 at 3PM approx. I'm guessing traffic is peak by the time I clear airport formalities. Train sounding much more enticing than potential 2-3 hrs. My last trip in to BKK arrived late evening - that's when it was horrendous.
