Careful, on Monday (Pasquetta) trains, planes and highways will be extremely crowded: this is a typical "travel" day when people will be coming home from a long weekend. I remember a few years ago when I needed 5-6 hours for Napoli-Rome on the autostrada! On the other hand, a Freccia in the morning with arrival in Rome in the early afternoon would be no problem. Yes, I would add that on Paquetta/Easter Monday, which is a holiday for almost everyone, there also are a lot of day-trippers crowding the terminals, so I would expect Monday to be much busier than Sunday. In any case, a train trip from Venice to Rome would be a great pleasure and constitute part of their vacation. They would travel in comfort and have a tour of Italy outside their windows.
