"Flights converted to Rouge"...

Interesting line in the May 27 press release
"Customers who have already booked travel to Hawaii directly through Air Canada on these routes converted to Air Canada rouge will be notified by email that their flight has been converted to Air Canada rouge."
We all know that there were/are many, many pax who booked trips on mainline and the flights were switched to Rouge AFTER they booked and paid and many claim they were never notified. (both on this forum and more so on the Skytrax page devoted to "all complaints Rouge all the time")
We do know that may of those regulars and those who bought FPs on the YVR/YYC -LAX/SFO routes got scrouged.
So, my question is:
Did AC really notify people that their flights were switched? If yes, as AC claims, then how were there so many who did not know (other than those on Skytrax who had TAs book their ticket and all involved were clueless, or those sad souls who do not live in Canada and had no way of knowing)?
