Just recently, WiFi was changed to 100% free access; with no time limit, there is also a premium option (for a fee).

They recently tightened up on this because way too many were using it for an arrival lounge in their destination, even though that was never the benefit.

DO NOT have access if their final destination (arrival) is in Amsterdam,

This is clearly noted at delta.com when you search on lounges (pasted below).
There have been people who have been lucky, and I wouldn't necessarily say NOT to give it a try... but, "by the rules," you do not have access unless you are departing (or connecting). This is being enforced now, but as always, YMMV.
