I don't mean to sound rude or anything but what is this point of asking for suggestions if you are going to reply by saying you are not in charge of something so you can't order it? Are you compiling a list of issues with the intended purpose of presenting them to someone who can do something about them or not?

Locked luggage: At my airport, we do allow/encourage passengers to observe the luggage screening and regularly lock the bags for the passengers when we are through. Never a problem with this method. In the event a passenger is not present for whatever reason, then one way or another, we need to look inside. We prefer the passenger to always be there though... I know there is more to this issue but I am just replying based on what we are doing right now at my airport. I do see and understand your concerns though if you are not present and agree that there has to be a better way.

Unfortunately, not all airports operate in this manner. I think the concern is with those places, not the ones that allow you to be present. I also think that when the screener is done searching your bags, you should be allowed to re-pack them.
