It's already annoying to have a line forming in front of the washroom, but when you have a door that opens periodically (sometimes in an excess of 10 seconds), it really interferes with your attempt to fall asleep, not to mention that it is fairly easy to be able to hear the sound of the toilet flushing if you don't have anything over your ears.
And when you have crying babies, many times people jiggles the baby right there. Years ago I was on JFK-HKG flight sitting in Y exit row - there were probably half a dozen or so babies on board that day (and a bunch of toddler) and they all took turn to hang out by the exit row ...
