Hmmm I'm not sure that helps, unless I'm missing something?
Much of the travel time is across the Atlantic, and I'd like us to be comfy, so if I'm trying to compare apples to apples, I'd have to purchase two pods YYZ-LHR, which would be almost $11K all in for two of us, even at the lowest available Executive Class fare. And then I have to spend 90K miles (instead of 210K miles if the reward ticket leaves from YYZ) plus ~$600. So I'm spending about $10K to save 120K miles. No thanks.
Or did I misunderstand your suggestion?
P.S. I'm not planning to drive to NYC.
