If you are looking for "less touristy" Hawaii - then its probably best to avoid Waikiki in its entirety.
The main difference between the Outrigger & HHV is proximity to restaurants/shopping, etc.. and the Outrigger is much more convenient. However, IMO, the HHV has better/more variety of beach options.
