I must admit I noticed a subway terminal said Tap, Insert or Swipe card a couple of days ago but I paid via contactless, so didn't try the chip slot. They appear to be EMV Verifone terminals (Same ones used by lots of retailers in the UK like M&S and Waitrose) issued by First Data.
