I was not suggesting that we buy hundreds of $100 fixed value VGCs, since one cannot use so many fuel pts in two months and loading $100 VGCs is time consuming.
I intended to ask for data points for $100 VGC. I tested it today, and got mixed results: at one store, I bought 1 $100 VGC at 3pm, and got the $5 off coupon. At another store, I bought 1 $100 VGC at 6pm, and did not get the coupon. So I am not sure what happened.

I would rather churn through more $500 variable cards and make more profit than be stuck with gas discounts. I will however probably get enough for 1000 fuel points so I can get a $1 off a gallon for a fillup!
