I sometimes do, though rarely, see queues at the gates. Possibly an influx of multiple flights carrying returning holiday goers.

Yesterday evening there was no queue. I arrived back from KIX (via KUL on MH) at T2 and only a handful were using the gates. All immigration counters at T2 arrival were open and there were queues of around 6-10 pax in each row. After I gone through the gate, picked up my check-in luggage, bought a bottle of Macallen whiskey from DFS, and sat down near the immigration counters to wait for my friend who was still in queue.

I do love my home airport. ^
