Agreed but just to be clear it is nothing whatsoever to do with '
route length' as you originally stated but rather the the distance
from LON to the capital city of the destination'. For example, LON-GIG-LAX-HNL (14500miles) would incur (all other factors being even) the same APD as LON-BOS (3300 miles).
