The autogates at Changi can already be rather congested at certain arrival times, and adding a bunch of Americans to those queues will not be a welcome development for those of us (Singapore citizens, PRs, and employment pass holders) who are eligible to use them.
Unless Singapore citizens will be able to use GE when arriving in US ports of entry, it's hard to see how this benefits Singapore at all.
Use of the autogates is now being expanded to all work permit holders as well. That's going to cause way more congestion than the occasional GE member who actually knows he can use the autogates.
Also I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to use the automatic gates and that was at Woodlands Checkpoint on a Sunday afternoon.
