I watched them IDB someone on ORD-SJU the other day.

They were over by 1 and didn't realize it until there was a seat dupe on the plane.

They came on board and offered $400 and a later flight. A few people came up and asked what the later flight was. They had no clue and said "probably something through Houston or Miami." They asked when they'd get in, UA GA had no answers. No takers for the vague reprotection.

GA went back out and came back on the plane offering again $400 for a flight through IAH, connecting to a redeye, resulting in a 16 hour later arrival into SJU.

They would not move above $400 for such an awful delay. Nor would they take a couple willing to bump together (old UA policy would be to bump 2 pax if there was only a party of 2 willing, rather than IDB someone).

GA made one final call on board at $400 and said if nobody takes it, they're going to find the lowest fare on the plane and IDB them. No takers.

GA went back out to figure that part out, and came back on board and asked a woman to come off. She's in a party of 3 traveling together. Her sister jumps up and goes with her, we can hear the arguing in the jet bridge from F.

That went on for about 10 minutes, the sister got back on, understandably upset that her party was split up like that. The sister was a UA statused pax with an F upgrade (not sure what level). The IDB was from coach.

We took a 30-minute delay as this whole thing played out and UA made quite the spectacle of themselves. Hey, but they held firm at $400.
