JDT1955 - you make a good point there though. I'm not sure I like the idea of a "sunny" trip. I'm a bit spatially challenged - would it be different if I did the return from PVG to ORD?
If I were you this is what I would do. Try them both so you can see which you like better. As others have mentioned there are plus and minuses to both.

If I couldn't get a bulkhead seat on the sCO 777 then I'd probably pick the 747 any day. For me the sCO BF bulkhead seats (787/777/767/757) are the best in the fleet.
