If you are staying there for a treat to your girlfriend, I wouldn't chose a property based on the lounge, it's not like you are going to be using it much anyway.

The Waldorf is beside a lot of theaters and places to dine at. I would recommend going right when happy hour starts for a drink or two and appetizers, seeing a show and then having a late dinner.

One thing I appreciated that they did for me back in December, was to comp room service. My flight was delayed by over 12 hours and I didn't get to the hotel until after 11 pm and was exhausted and had to be to St Pancras station the next morning by 5 a.m. and really wasn't looking forward to going out to get something to eat that late on a Friday night. The FD clerk said he couldn't upgrade me because they didn't have any rooms available but to check back on Monday and they would (I didn't bother for just two nights and stayed in my room assigned which was fine), and he felt bad he couldn't upgrade a diamond and asked if I wanted drinks and food from the bar or room service. I said room service sounded great and he told me to call there once I got in my room and he would make sure it was comped^^^ I would have rather had the room service than an upgrade that night.
