First VDB compensation and my family was targeted for the VDB too! Flew DTW - IAH (got in on the first class fare glitch earlier this year) today. Got an email last night asking if my plans were flexible, and would consider taking a different flight, they had a limited-time offer for you. Gave me a number to call if I was interested. Didn't think much of it because my wife, daughter and I were coming back on Monday. Checked in online last night. While at the airport kiosk this morning to print out our boarding passes, two United agents were talking with each other and I overheard one mentioned my wife's and my name.

When we were approaching the gate, we heard our names being paged. I started to worry because I thought they were going to cancel our tix because of the fare glitch. The gate agent ask for our boarding passes and said that the wrong plane came in last night and they had fewer first class seats than what they sold. They asked if we were willing to give up our seats for $200/each in travel vouchers and take the Delta non-stop flight to IAH that leaves 30 minutes after the United Flight. I asked for $400/each to take the Delta flight sensing they were desperate because boarding was about to begin. After the gate agent made a phone call, she agreed to $400/each and booked us first class in the Delta flight to IAH. I was really surprised they agreed since the delta booking was also in first, but only landed 30 minuted later. One single voucher is significantly more than what we paid per tix.
