A friend who flys DL has been bone dry for over a yr, and stopped getting to the gate early since they never needed him. Yesterday @ DTW as he gets close to the gate he hears the GA hawking away. End result a $400 VDB for waiting 2 hrs for the next flight that put him into F as well.

On UA maybe they would have given $200 but most likely only $150 if that. I had several last year where they said since I was gonna arrive withing 2 hrs of my original arrival time Im not suppose to get anything but they will still give me $150. I said make it $400 as it s/b or Im flying as tkted.When they didnt budge I started walking away and they said OK $200, I said $400 or nothing, sometimes they paid up others not

the problem is that now so many folks will take whatever they can get that UA can hold the amount down, and at times it may be cheaper to IDB then VDB. Even thou IDB is $$$, I wouldnt be at all surprised if they handed out vouchers instead and the people took it
