New 1st Barclays card but only $3,800 CL. Could anyone who is overpaying and using multiple of their CL please post experience- ie: no problem, contact from Barclays or adverse action? PM's fine, of course.
IMO, conventional wisdom on these forums regarding such activity is often speculation vs actual experience. For example, people say to be very careful overpaying Amex. People also say that even if you overpay, you still can't do a single charge greater than your CL. Both of these are WILDLY incorrect.
I have prepaid/overpaid an Amex card by 32x the CL, and i have charged 24x the CL in one charge- went thru without even a fraud alert! The account has been at a credit balance probably 90% of the time for 2 years and usually between 4-7x CL. Worth noting, this was ramped up over a period of a year. starting with ~2-3x CL and bumping that up- albeit at a fast rate obviously.
I detail the Amex experience to head off conventional 'wisdom' in favour of ACTUAL experiences such as mine with Amex. I'm trying to determine what is doable with Barclays. I've read they like you to use the hell out of their cards, but don't know if several overpayments per month will fly without AA. Ideally, the goal is to do at least $6-10k ??? per month to start, and ramp from there- with some purchases well above CL.
Sorry for the long post.
I overpaid my Barclays card last month. It was due to the fact that an automatic payment was set up and I had already paid it to $0. It was only about $20 under though, so I'm not sure if this is helpful at all. But they obviously didn't hate it very much because they gave me a new card after this had happened.
