I was elite with AA when I lived at RDU because I liked the RDU-LHR flight, but going anywhere else on the east coast outside of NYC it was really tough to stay on AA because the hubs didn't make any sense at all. Delta has hourly RDU-ATL flights-- you can't support that with DFW because there aren't that many people going in that direction. .
Indeed. If you live in RDU and you're going westbound, to CHI, NYC or MIA AA is great, other than that DL is the way to go. As you said, hourly flights to ATL, plus both NY airports, BOS, CVG, DTW, MSP, SLC and LAX as well as random RJ flights to places like PHL, BWI, MCO, TPA etc.
