Thank you all, this is exactly what I did. The next agent confirmed that all I had to do was cancel the flight and a credit would be placed on my account for 1 year from the date of purchase. The itinerary I want is still available at the $1115 price, so I am good to go. Well ... except for the 60 minutes of my life that I will never get back, spent on the phone with a useless agent!
