I agree the app is definitely not as user-friendly as it could be but bear in mind this is version 1.0.

there is a seat map. You have to go to 'My Trips', choose the flight, then click the three dots on the top right and select 'Select Seats'. Its a rudimentary seatmap though - not as good as the one on the website online.
