it must be either a store specific policy or the cashiers don't know how to ring the cards.

their terminal DOES say override after they enter a large amount. that override they do themselves (it's just a 'hey, did you really mean 40 vs 400' kinda verification). some freak out when they see it, some don't know what to do, some THINK it's telling them they need a mgr override- they don't. if they keep getting a bunch of beeps but it won't load the amount to the card: THAT is operator error.

i've had cashier's whose name tag says they've been there since 2001 not know how to get past that message on their heads up display. shows how rare our purchases are.
