OP is a UA Silver. UA Silvers get to use the UA Silver line. So far as I know, there is no rule that says they need to be flying UA -- or flying at all (assuming they have a gate pass).
As others have said, I can just show my card, but I don't even think being *G would help in this case since I am not on UA. *G would only help if you earned it from another program, but are flying on United.[/url]
*G would get you priority security on ANA, which may or may not be something that ANA has contracted for at ORD.
