I agree, that 60% paid J helps alot, it wouldn't make sense for MPC to not bump someone up with 150 elite miles to go when you have a 9000 one coming up.
But to the OP, its certainly rare to hear someone being bumped up early, so congratulations

Cathay Boy since you would've need AA coded flights or CX YBH to credit to AA.
Weren't you doing CX MLV fares mostly? CX would've be optimal in that situation.
You started around early 2010 right? AA changed the MM rules on Dec 1, 2011 so you would've had to put alot of your CC miles into AA prior to the 2011 date.
I really started flying AA back in 08 (with 100K lifetime), Jumped from CX Gold > AA EXP.
By the 2011 rule change I was around 960K, but I put up with alot of AA 772 J ORD-PVG for years, not everyone would've done that.
Now 2 1/4 yrs later, I'm still only at 1.2MM.
AA is a Great Program (for now) but it's not for everyone
