It's simple math. 10 passengers is 1950 pounds (FAA standard winter humans). Moving them 15 feet back (5 rows) can easily shift the moment sufficiently to bring an out-of-balance craft back into balance.
I haven't watched this lesson, but NASA usually produces pretty good material.
