The amount of liquid in a "normal" fountain pen would be far below the 3.4 oz amount (I say normal, becuase I have seen some gag fountain pens that were like 3 feet long, those would have some problem coming through!). Just leave it where you normally keep it.
But if a screening clerk decided to confiscate the pen from a citizen on the grounds that it contained liquid not contained in a magical plastic baggie that protects us all from an imaginary threat, that citizen would of course have no recourse to retrieve his of her property, correct?
