A little caution about Phaya Thai. A lot of people want to connect from ARL to BTS at Phaya Thai. But BTS is not really set up to accomodate people with luggage. Most stations don't have "down" escalators so you end up trying to figure out how to get your bags down several flights of stairs. And if you take BTS during rush hour it may be too crowded to get your bags into the trains.
And throngs of people somehow manage to do so even without these accommodations. All stations have an elevator though having it working is a lottery unto itself. I do agree that rush hour might not be the proper time to carry on significant luggage but again people do it everyday and somehow survive to tell the tale... and rush hour is exactly when I don't want to be trapped in
rot tit in a taxi.
