No high speed train gets through Guilin. There are 3 trains daily Guilin-Changsha, of which 1 goes to Beijing.
It seems like every other person I meet in Nanning is from Liuzhou and they are all quite happy with the D trains. However, most of them are either driving themselves there for the holiday or taking buses because the trains sold out about a week ago.
I ended up getting my physical train ticket printed out at the same kiosk that refused to sell me a ticket yesterday because my colleagues warned me that picking it up at the train station would not be pleasant. (Actually, I did that drill on National Day and things went fairly smoothly, but I really don't want to spend any more time in the train station than is absolutely necessary.)
