I accepted their offer to deal with SPG and ensure the suite nights are returned as well as 16,000 points as an apology from the hotel (the cost of one night at their hotel in a standard room) for the "mix up" at the front desk. IMO I was made whole in terms of value, though lying about the downgrade still leaves a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.
