I've noticed similar IT problems on Saturday evenings. My theory is their IT system goes trough a refresh of some sort during that time, and things slow down. I now try to only book flights on weekdays.
I booked my ticket Friday evening...YMMV
Edit: I'm now not able to view my e-receipt, and the e-mail request to get a copy of the e-ticket/receipt isn't actually being sent.
