In May, 2012, AA said this about the new 772 J seats:

Up to 45 new fully lie-flat Business Class seats will provide customers among the largest living spaces of any 777 Business Class seat offered by U.S. airlines. The new seat will be an industry leader giving travelers up to two times more living space than American's current 777-200ER Business Class seat. Seats will feature a large tray table, a work surface, and every component of the seat – including the seatback, head rest and leg rest – can be individually adjusted using intuitively designed, simplistic seat controls.

Chris Sloan, of Airways magazine, had this to say about the seats in his review of the inaugural 77W flight:

The Business Class Cabin for the 777-200s and some 767-300s, due in January 2014 will reportedly be a further upgrade, as it will be a hybrid between the Flagship and Business. This new cabin will be very key to the airline as the First Class Flagship suites will be removed from these particular aircraft.

From these clues it sounds as if the 772 J seats will be superior to the 77W J seats; larger with more personal space.
