I'm glad I went, but be ready to spend LOTS to get the experience you see in the travel magazines.
Thanks for this info and suggestion. Once we decided to extend our journey south from Japan, NZ became our prime destination.

Appreciate your comments re Tahiti; sounds like ten hours of flying for expensive disenchantment!

Still haven't figured where to go in NZ or for how long but flying into to CHC and leaving from AKL would be ideal.
