Besides, if you do get malaria, so what? See a doctor, get some medicine and you will be fine again in no time. Yeah, malaria kills. It kills small children mired in poverty in areas without proper medical facilities, it can kill the weak or sick. If you are hale and healthy, it will only kill you if you are also stupid. Or if your family doctor is stupid, of course.
That's pure uninformed bogusness. Healthy people can and do die from malaria, even with great treatment.

A study published in The Lancet in 2012 found that

Although most malaria deaths are in children, the number of deaths in adults is high. In 2010, 20% of malaria deaths were in people aged 15 to 49 years, 9% were in people aged 50 to 69 years, and 6% were in those over 70 years of age.

Aside from that, malaria is a severe immune system suppressant. It is common for people who do not die from malaria to get pneumonia, sometimes fatal, shortly thereafter. It is a nasty disease, and your luck in not getting it yet is just that - luck.
